Working together worldwide for sustainable and inclusive growth

A partnership based on shared values such as democracy and human rights

Together, the EU and Japan are engaged in a number of exciting projects around the globe.

The Partnership on Sustainable Connectivity and Quality Infrastructure between the EU and Japan is based on shared values and guiding principles such as democracy, the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedom.

With a focus on sustainable connectivity and quality infrastructure the partnership aims to promote projects that will bring lasting benefits and sustainable and inclusive growth in partner countries.

Projects

The EU works closely with Japan in addressing global infrastructure gaps in a way that supports sustainable development and preserves the sovereignty of partner countries. To further promote the connectivity partnership between EU and Japan, leaders have agreed that a joint list of substantial connectivity projects will be created.

The Connectivity Partnership is a complex engagement, requiring the cooperation of multiple agencies in two comparable yet diverse economies in Europe and Asia. At the base is a series of studies and research projects leading to written reports and action plans.

Focus Areas

Our partners are the peoples and government institutions, as well as private industries, in the regions of the Indo-Pacific, Africa, Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Thus, the partnership has a global dimension. We cover sectors from transport and energy to digital industries and people-to-people exchanges.

Report: Available Financial Resources

Financing is a key issue for getting the private sector on board.  That is why we have created a financial resource guide/manual for EU-Japan private business cooperation.

“Scale is needed for creating a transformative impact. Here the EU-Japan Connectivity Partnership is a key tool”
